Youth Posing As Cop Held For Fake Job Promises

Santipur, July 31: A man, who pretended to be an inspector of detective department of state police and allegedly cheated several innocent youths duping them by job promises, has been arrested from Santipur on Friday morning.

Sailen ghosh, 35 a resident of Sarbanandi para of santipur, was arrested from his house by a team of Santipur police acting on a tip off.

Police have also arrested his aide Paltu Das, 30, a cyber cafe owner, who used compose fake appointment letter using pole emblems. He is a president of pagla gosainpara in Santipur town.

Police have recovered a personal computer, printers, fake letterhead, fake rubber stumps from the duo.

superintendent of police, Nadia Bharatlal Meena said: "We have arrested the youth and his aide on the basis of specific complaints. He duped unemployed youths with fake job promises and siphoned huge amount of money".

" The duo was charged under section 417 (cheating),  419 (cheating by persomation), 420 (cheating and dishonesty inducing delivery of property) and produced before the ACJM court by in Ranaghat in Ranaghat on Friday ", SP said.

The Court ordered ten days police custody for the duo.

Police sources said, sailen was arrested on a complaint registered by a victim identified as Subhankar Ghosh of Phulia Buinchya village,  who was cheated worth Rs 70000 on pretext of getting him a job in WB Police, said.

An investigating officer said, Sailen used befriend with unemployed youths, preferably with young women as a match match and duped them with job promise.

" we have information of about fifty such cheated youth. Preliminary investigation indicates the accused youth had siphoned around Rupees Two crores through such fake promises", an officer said.
