Trinamul Councillor's Son Arrested For Attack On JNM Doctors

Kalyani, July 6: Goutam Roy (29), son of Trinamul Congress councilor in Kalyani was arrested by Kalyani police today in connection alleged attack on the interns and junior doctors at JNM hospital and Kalyani college of medicine that occurred late on Monday night.
Goutam, who owns a retail medicine shops located opposite to the hospital gate

is son of Trinamul councilor Amar Roy, who represents ward 4 of Kalyani Municipality.

Goutam was charged under section 504 (breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC and granted bail by the additional chief judicial magistrate court in Kalyani following the police made no appeal for his custody. 
Principal of college of medicine on Tuesday had alleged that some medicine retailers were behind the attack on the interns and junior doctors.
On monday nights the interns were beaten up by gun totting miscreants and threatened them for dire consequences unless they prescribe branded name of medicines instead of generic names and force the patients parties to buy medicines from the retail shops outside of hospital compound instead from government's fair price medicine stores.
Accused father, Trinamul councilor Amar Roy said: "I have no relation with my son. Law would take its own course of action against him".
