Sporadic Violence In Kaliganj, Three Died

REPRESENTATIVE PICTUREKaliganj, May 4: Prohibitory orders have been clamped in Juranpur area under Kaliganj police station in Nadia following three people were died and around ten others were injured in sporadic clashes that occurred between two groups on Monday 

At least ten policemen, were also been injured in the sporadic violence that continued even late in the night.

Property worth lakhs of rupees have been damaged, with a section of violent mob torched several houses in the area Juranpur and adjacent Nawda area.

The police imposed Section 144 in the area on Monday and Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel were deployed to quell the spiral of violence. Superintendent of Police-Nadia Arnab Ghosh camped in the area to monitor the law and order situation.

However, none from the police administration spoke on the issue. Officials in the district administration have also refused to point a particular reason that triggered clashes on Monday morning.

The police and RAF personnel took over almost the entire area in Juranpur, Nawda and adjacent Sujapur area the streets in anti-riot gear. 
Local MLA Nasiruddin Ahmed said: “The situation is still tensed and I told the police to take all possible measure to restore normalcy including arresting the culprits without any prejudice”
