Nadia Police Constable Killed In Thanarpara

Krishnanagar, April 30: Murshidabad police today recovered the body a missing constable of Nadia police from the river Jalangi early on Thursday morning.  

The constable, identified as Sabit Goswami, 34, went missing on last Sunday along with his friend Loknath Chatterjee, a ration dealer by profession.

On Thursday Nawda police of Murshidabad district recovered the nearly decomposed body of Sabit, who was attached to District police line in Krishnanagar

Earlier on Wednesday night the Thanarpara police in Nadia recovered the body of Loknath.

There were marks of sharp weapon on both the bodies.

The deceased constable, who was a resident of Jalpaiguri, came to his in-laws’ house in Pratapnagar under Thanarpara police.

Family sources said, ‘On Sunday Sabit came to Pratapnagar and later in the day he along with Loknath left in-laws house for Tarinipur to meet some friends”.

An officer of Nawda police station said: “We have recovered the body and informed the Nadia police. The preliminary investigation suggests that the constable was murdered. There were a number of injury marks found all over the body. It appeared that the body was drowned in the water of Jalangi; the locals today found the body which floating. We came to know that a missing diary was lodged at the Thanarapara police station, which will further investigate the case.
