Mukul Removed From JNM & Gandhi Hospital's Patients' Welfare Committee

Kolkata, Feb. 27: In a fresh move to curb his influence and to isolate him, the state government in an order issued on Thursday has removed Mukul Roy as president of the swasthya samities of two important hospitals.

Mukul, who was the president of governing bodies of Swasthya samity, a patients' welfare body of JNM Medical college hospital and Gandhi Memorial hospital, both located in Kalyani, has been replaced by minister of food and supplies Jyotipriyo Mullick. Mullick is also president of North 24 parganas district Trinamul Congress committee.

The order (HF/SPSRC/54) dated February 26 issued by principal secretary health and family welfare department stated that ‘Jyotipriya Mullick, minister in charge of food and supplies department is hereby nominated by this department as president of the governing body of the swasthya samity of the college of medicine and JNM hospital in place of Shri Mukul Roy. He shall also act as the president of the governing body of the swasthy samity of the Gandhi memorial hospital kalyani...the other members of the Rogi Kalyani samity will be the same”

“This order will take immediate effect”, it further said
