Ranaghat, Sept. 24: The ACJM court in Ranaghat on Thursday directed the inspector general (prison) to produce all the six accused before the court on September 30 who have so far been arrested in connection with the “rape and robbery” case at Convent of Jesus and Mary high school in Ranaghat where an elderly nun was brutalized.

On the night of March 13 this year a gang of about nine miscreants entered the residential quarters of the Convent of Jesus and Mary high school in Ranaghat Donbosco Para and brutalized an elderly nun apart from looting cash and ransacking a chapel.

ACJM Ranaghat Subhankar Basu ordered this after the CID on Thursday produced three prime accused – Kazi Nazrul Islam, Milan Sarkar Ohidul Islam Babu before her.

APP Pradip Mukherjee said: “The six accused in the case have been kept at different correctional homes separately. They have also other pending cases lodged at other police stations in the state. The court has directed the IG (Prison) to produce all the accused altogether so that the further legal process could be speed up”.

Meanwhile, the CID filed a supplementary charge sheet on the day for Kazi Nazrul Islam who was not included in the initial charge sheet filed by the CID on June 22.

However, the probing team has included Kazi Nazrul Islam and Milan Sarkar in the supplementary charge sheet.

In this charge sheet the CID has also brought fresh charges against Milan Sarkar and Ohidul Islam Babu as the sleuths have claimed that have got vital information during the investigation

APP Pradip Pramanik said:  “Kazi Nazrul Islam alias Nozu and two others – Milan and Ohidul have been charged under section 109 (abetment to crime), 120B (criminal conspiracy), 212 (harboring offence), 216A (harboring offender knowing his intention of crime), 354 (assault to woman with intention to outrage modesty), 354B( assault or criminal force on woman), 355 (assault or criminal force), 376 (rape), 376B (gang rape), 395 (dacoity), 397 (dacoity causing injury)”.

In the initial charge sheet the CID had booked five persons in the 995 page charge sheet.

CID sources, however, claimed that the sleuths are yet to conclusively identify any of the accused in the charge sheet to have raped the elderly nun even though it has slapped the charge of rape against all the six accused.
