The four arrests include Ghiyasuddin Sheikh, a resident of Mirzapur village of Paglachandi area in Nadia. Ghiyasuddin, who worked as a clerk to a junior Madrasa in the area and had also run a book shop at the local rail station market.

NIA sources in Calcutta said that Ghiyasuddin used to work as a recruiter for the JMB module along with Dalim Sheikh of Birbhum.

Ghiyasuddin’s name surfaced up during October last year after interrogating Razia, wife of slain terrorist in Burdwan blast.

On October 30, the NIA team had first visited the house of Ghiyasuddin in Mirzapur. However, Ghiyasuddin smelled the trouble and fled a day before the NIA team arrived. The NIA team on that day examined the thatched house located in the Mirzapur village for about three hours and his book shop. He also used to sell burqa from the shop. The sleuths have recovered three sim cards. They also examined a copier machine at the shop. The processor and the memory disk of the copier were recovered and taken by the police for forensic examination.

His brother Abdul Kalam Azad Munshi said: “Ghiyasuddin had always extended cooperation to the investigating officers. Initially he was afraid and went absconding. However, he later helped in the investigation. He was summoned to NIA’s Calcutta office. He had also earlier appeared there being summoned. However, on last night we got a call from NIA late in the evening and informed that he was arrested”.

Meanwhile, the NIA did not disclose much about another arrest Motiur Reheman alias Noor Alam, who was a resident of Kaliganj area in Nadia. NIA sources said, “Motiur used to stay in Beldanga in Murshidabad district, but was close confidant Shakil Gazi, the slain terrorist in Khagragarh. He was instrumental in arranging the hideouts, training places as well as bomb making units in Murshidabad district. He was involved in examining the infrastructure and provide the logistic support to the module”
