Bethuadahari, July 9: Family members of a class ten girl in Nadia’s Nakashipara called a neighboring boy of same class to an isolated place last evening and allegedly beaten up tying him with a rope to a tree for having an affair with the girl and poured pesticide into his mouth to ensure his death.

The girl’s family lost their cool after the boy written a letter to the girl and handed it over in public yesterday morning when she was returning home from private tuition.

The boy, identified as Tito Das, a student of Jugpur Chak Hatisala high school was rushed to Bethuadahari block hospital last night after some locals found him lying unconscious, where he later died.

The Nakashipara police have started a murder case against six members of the girl’s family including her father Subhash Das on the basis of a dying statement made by the victim at the hospital as well as on the basis of a complaint lodged by the boy’s father Pankaj Das.

Police have, however, so far could arrest none of the accused as they fled from the area.

Additional SP (Rural) of Nadia Tanmay Sarkar said: “We have received a complaint and started investigation. All the accused persons have gone absconding. We are, however, hopeful to arrest the culprits soon”.

According to local sources, Tito, the boy, who was originally a resident of Purbasthali in Burdwan started living at his paternal uncle Nibir Das’s house in Jugpur village of Nakashipara a few years ago as his father was financially too weak to help him to study.

In last year Tito developed an affair with a girl of class ten in his neighborhood, who is a student of Matangini Balika Vidyapith in Jugpur area. However, the girl’s family did not like his proximity to the girl.

Locals said: “The girl’s family is financially sound and never like the boy even though he was a good student and well mannered. The Das family members had a few days ago also threatened the boy with dire consequence unless he made distance from the girl”.

Fresh trouble broke out on Friday morning when Tito was seen talking to the girl on road and handing her over letter.

Tito’s married sister Mitu Majumder said: “The girl’s father Subhash came to know about the incident and came to our house and threatened. They later in the afternoon took my brother to a deserted mango orchard in Hatisala area where the girl’s father and other members of the family mercilessly beaten up my brother with sticks, punched and kicked him at random tying to a tree. When he became unconscious they poured pesticides into his mouth and left”.

“He was missing till late in the evening until some locals informed us that he was found unconscious in the mango orchard and taken to hospital. We rushed to the hospital and found him in dying state. He, however, named all the family members who killed him”, added Mitu.

Pankaj Das, victim’s father said: “It is quite unimaginable to me that a father could kill a boy of his daughter’s age for such a trivial flaw. He could admonish and leave him with a warning”.
